What is TOPSoccer?

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability. Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the US YOUTH SOCCER family.

Who is eligible for TOPSoccer?

Any youth player between the ages of 3-19 years old having a physical or mental disability that limits their ability to perform at the level of play they have chosen to participate.    Your ALT-Text here

Why do we need a TOPSoccer Program?

The TOPSoccer program has the same elements as standard soccer, including the spirit of team sports and strenuous physical activity. The unique thing about TOPSoccer is that the program can be modified to accommodate the special needs of individual players. The emphasis is on developing positive self-concepts and having fun, rather than on winning or losing.

  • Standard Soccer balls 3, 4, 5 – small soccer field used – hour long sessions

  • Jumbo soccer balls for children wheelchair bound and visually impaired

  • Beeper and Bell soccer balls for children visually impaired

  • KickSpots with audible squeak for children visually impaired

The results are dramatic. Parents of special needs children are amazed at the positive impact playing soccer has on their child’s self-esteem. Many children also seem to improve their motor skills. Most significantly, as a result of playing TOPSoccer, these children enjoy the camaraderie of team sports and hear the cheers from proud parents, sisters and brothers on the sidelines.

How does the TOPSoccer program impact the children involved?

Soccer is such a great game for all children. It builds self-esteem and enhances motor skills. They learn the importance of teamwork and enjoy the spirit and camaraderie of being part of a team. It is especially rewarding to see some of these children get involved in team sports for the first time.

PROGRAM BENEFITS-

  • Development of motor skills and improved physical fitness.

  • Promotes social skills by teaching teamwork and cooperation

  • Provides safe participation and fair play.

  • Develops positive self-concepts through experiences in discipline, initiative and achievement, which encourage children to fully realize their potential.

  • To have FUN, FUN, FUN!
