They will be coached by State, Regional and ODP staff. The bus will depart Saturday June 12. They will arrive in Oklahoma on Saturday and stay on campus in the camp housing. We will be sending out more about pick up information as soon as we have time to develop the bus schedule. Please also print and fill out the soccer release form. We need to have this before the trip. This form is from last year I will update as soon as they send a new form. Please contact me or Mark Godwin if you have any other questions.
Thanks
This was written by Susan Sheehan, 97 Girls Administrator, to give parents more information about this camp. Susan also attended this camp with her older daughter who is a 95 ODP player. Dear 97G ODP Parents: The ODP Committee asked me to give you a testimonial, of sorts, about the Oklahoma Sub-Regional Event that the 97G will attend in June. I went last year as a chaperone/administrator for the 95G and it was a great experience. I have a 97G who will attend this summer's event. A typical day for your daughter will include morning and afternoon training sessions, followed by competitive matches against other state teams in the evenings. The week culminates with an All-Star game at the OU soccer complex on the last night, and wild-and-crazy small-sided games the last morning, when the girls design their own uniforms and play for fun. The girls travel to and from Oklahoma on a chartered team bus, along with their coaches and chaperones. They stay in dormitories on the OU campus in Norman, OK, where they are strictly monitored. Each girl has a cardkey to enter her locked hallway and a key to enter her dorm room, which she will share with a roommate. The chaperones stay in dorm rooms on the same hallway as the players. At no time is a girl left on her own: the girls go as a group on all outings, including to the dorm cafeteria for meals and the soccer fields for all training and games. The girls are not allowed to leave the group for any reason. The ODP Committee continues to work on details for the event, and they will be communicated to you as soon as possible. While I know you are all eager to know more, hopefully the above information gives you a little better understanding of what you can expect. I feel certain the week will be full of great fun and great soccer for your daughter! Looking forward to meeting you all, Susan Sheehan
